New Camera!!!! (7. July)

After 6 years, my Kodak 330 EasyShare camera has journeyed with me to 3 continents many times. It has helped me capture and share various scenes of the world around me--through my eyes (either naturally or through special/fun editing). Especially with returning to Korea, I see that my faithful traveling side-kick was coming to the end of its life.
Imagine my astonishment as my coordinator told me he has a camera he doesn't want to keep. Even more, he said I can take charge of it (without mentioning money at all). I couldn't believe it.
I became more excited as I tested it out this past Sabbath (Saturday). I focused more on God's silent masterpieces in nature . . . then I ventured off to other things. Here are some of my best test shots.

What do you think?

My favorite.

Here is where I started to venture off.
Why is there a line of bronze pots hanging up-side down in front of this restaurant?

Ooooohhhhhh, now I get it.

Off to Tab-dong, right by the sea. This time, I'll go to a lighthouse and take pictures of the boardwalk.

The boardwalk, about a good 5-10 min. walk away.

Sara-bong.

Statue of a female diver. Jeju is famous for (among many other things) their female divers.

Begin and end with nature.

So please tell me, what do you think of the results of this camera?

Party Day (27.June) & Term Break (28.June-1.July)

For my evening class's party day, we decided to have a friendly pool competition: our class vs. Duke's class. Loser bought bingsu (ice cream with shaved ice, fruits, and other stuff) and honey bread (two slices of toast on top of each other with honey, cinnamon, and any other sweet stuff).
My class lost, but we made them sweat for their victory! It was a lot of fun. I hope we can have a re-match sometime.

Eden is showing his skills.

Duke surprised us with his talent.

Lindsey deserves respect for her skills.

Eden coaching Hailey on wear to aim.

Lindsey supervising Jane's position (and possibilities).

I shot as well (and got a lot of coaching. This was my 2nd time ever trying this in my life), but we were too enthralled in the game that I forgot to ask someone to get a picture of me.
Blast.

The winning team enjoying their free treats--which we got to enjoy as well.

Term break began and I had a few friends/co-teachers from my 1st institute come and visit me. We had a pretty good time and it was great having them. What wasn't great was my lack of  functioning camera. The few pictures I have are of 2 different places. The 1st is from the Coastal Road (a road that follows the edge of the sea along 1 part of the island). This was courtesy of Daniel, a student and friend from Cheonan. He was kind enough to spend his last day on business with us to drive us around. This would've been unthinkable without him. Thanks again.

This one is actually at Hyeopjae Beach, near Hallim Park (west coast of Jeju). We got there by bus on another day.

Stormy-looking day. I loved it.

The next pictures are from Trick Art Museum (where art comes to life!).
Again, my camera wasn't really working. Also, the angles weren't the best either. Oh well, at least you can get the idea of what kind of place this is.

Basically, if you don't have a camera, don't bother coming.
Huh?

Great, about to get eaten by my favorite animal.

Whoa! Look at dinner--ugh, I mean, that fish!

Greg's Visit (23-24.June'12)

Many apologies for not posting this earlier. Shew, it's been almost a month since these events happened. Sorry again.

Well, in a nut-shell, a friend of mine (Greg) came to visit Jeju for the weekend. We met Saturday evening and he showed me around the resort he was staying in. On Sunday, we went to Jungmun and checked that area out until it was time for him to return to mainland.

My camera was barely working at the time, so I wasn't able to take many pictures. Anywho, let's go to said pictures:

One of the entrances to the resort Greg spent the night in. I don't think he could've been able to stay here if it wasn't for the ridiculous discount he got.

Hamdeok Beach; just a hop, skip, and jump away (or a 3 min. walk).

I'm not a big beach fan, but I really liked this one.

These pictures don't do the beach justice. I apologize to the beach.

Just the contrast of sea, land and their many textures. . .

I couldn't stop taking pictures of this place.

What was my favorite part? Hardly any people!

It's quite shallow for a bit.

The other entrance to the resort, but by night.

Sunday morning found us looking at this train (one of the few working ones on this island) at Yeomiji Botanical Garden (in Jungmun).

This botanical garden has outdoor and indoor exhibits. The indoor is the largest in Asia (I was told).

As you walk in the indoor exhibition hall.

There's the elevator to go up (or you could take the stairs).

One of the lovely flowers I was able to behold.

Another gorgeous flower--with a wonderful scent.
Too bad I don't know its name.

An organized cacti garden.

From the observation at the top. I'm looking at the Nymphs Bridge near Cheonjeyeong Falls.

Another side, this time it's where all the museums and (really fancy) hotels are.

Walking around the outside exhibits, we saw a French garden (or so it was called).

Nymphs Bridge again.
I wanted to get a picture of this before (when I visited last year), but all the trees were in the way (from my angle). Well, as they say, "better late than never!"
